Short answer
Flooring 2,000 sq ft in India typically lands between ₹1,48,400 and ₹19,69,000 installed, depending on what you lay. The cheapest realistic option is vinyl flooring at roughly ₹74–₹201 per sq ft installed; the most expensive is wooden flooring. A mid-market vitrified tile floor — the most common choice — works out to about ₹2,28,900 – ₹5,09,900.

| Wooden Flooring | ₹337 – ₹985 | ₹6,74,000 – ₹19,69,000 |

Worked example: 2,000 sq ft in vitrified tile
At 8% wastage, a 2,000 sq ft floor needs about 2,160 sq ft of tile, not 2,000 sq ft. That extra material is consumed by perimeter cuts, breakage and shade matching.
- Material: ₹1,18,800 – ₹3,24,000
- Labour: ₹60,000 – ₹1,10,000
- Wastage (8%): ₹8,800 – ₹24,000
- Adhesive & grout: ₹35,700 – ₹52,500
- Skirting, transitions & sundries: ₹14,400 – ₹23,400
- Estimated total: ₹2,28,900 – ₹5,09,900 (₹114 – ₹255 per sq ft)
Labour is charged on the actual floor area, not the purchased area — you pay fitting on 2,000 sq ft even though you buy 2,160 sq ft of tile.

Why flooring prices vary
- Material quality and brand
- Two vitrified tiles of the same size can differ 3x in price by grade, finish and brand.
- City and labour market
- Metro labour rates run higher than tier-2 cities; transport adds to material landed cost.
- Floor condition
- An uneven or damaged base needs levelling screed before any flooring can be laid.
- Tile or plank size
- Large formats cost more to handle and lay, but use less adhesive and grout per sq ft.
- Wastage
- Cutting, breakage and pattern matching typically consume 5–10% more material than the floor area.
- Removal of existing flooring
- Breaking and disposing of an old floor is charged separately, usually per sq ft.
- Installation pattern
- Diagonal, herringbone and mixed-size layouts increase both cutting waste and labour.
- Transportation and lifting
- Site access, floor level and lift availability change delivery and shifting charges.
How this estimate is calculated
Every figure on this page comes from the same formula. Rates are stored as configurable low–high bands per flooring type, overridden by city-level bands where we have them, then scaled by the quality level you pick.
effective_area = floor_area x (1 + wastage% / 100) material_cost = effective_area x material_rate labour_cost = floor_area x labour_rate adhesive_cost = floor_area x adhesive_rate grout_cost = floor_area x grout_rate other_cost = floor_area x other_rate total_cost = material + labour + adhesive + grout + other
Areas entered in square metres are converted using 1 sq m = 10.7639 sq ft. The low total uses every low rate and the high total uses every high rate, so the displayed range is deliberately wide — real quotations usually land somewhere in the middle.
Rates are configurable estimates maintained in our own database, not scraped live market prices, and we do not publish supplier names, reviews or ratings we cannot verify. Rate configuration last reviewed: September 2026.
